Wishlists, gift reservations and Secret Santa: FAQ
What can you do with Giventra? Learn how to create and share a wishlist, invite guests, reserve gifts and organize Secret Santa. Choose the feature you want to know about.
Plan an event with a wishlist
What is Giventra and what can I do with it?
Giventra is an app for wishlists and shared gift planning. Families, friends and teams can organize an event with a wishlist, invite guests and let them reserve gifts. You can also share a personal wishlist without an event or organize Secret Santa with private recipient assignments.
Which celebrations can I create a wishlist for?
Birthdays, weddings, a new baby, a housewarming or a farewell, for example. The shared wishlist helps your group choose suitable gifts and avoid duplicates.
How do I create an event with a wishlist?
Sign in, choose Create an event, then Shared Wishlist. Add the gift recipient, event name and date. Next, add gift ideas and invite your guests. Guests can reply and reserve available gifts.
Can I change the event later?
Open your event’s management or settings pages to change the details offered there. Available changes depend on its stage: completed events and published Secret Santa assignments restrict changes.
Must every gift cost the same?
Use the event’s budget guidance to set expectations together. An amount does not measure a gesture: handmade gifts, second-hand finds and time together can belong on a wishlist too.
Create and share wishlists
Can I create a wishlist without an event?
Yes. Sign in and open My wishlists. Create a personal wishlist, give it a name and add wishes. You do not need to create an event.
How do I share my personal wishlist?
Open your wishlist and use its sharing option. Others can read it through the sharing link without an account. The link does not allow editing or reservations. You can disable sharing again; event invitations have separate access permissions.
Can I use a saved wishlist for an event?
Yes. Choose an existing wishlist from the event’s wishes. Its ideas are copied without moving the personal list. Edits, sharing permissions and reservations in the event stay separate from the original list.
Can I add gifts from different shops?
Yes. Add ideas from different shops, handmade gifts, second-hand finds or experiences. A title is enough. Links, notes, sizes and prices are optional; you do not have to choose a single shop.
Reserve gifts
How do I reserve a gift?
Open your personal invitation to a Shared Wishlist event. Choose an available gift and confirm the reservation offered there. Other guests can then see that someone plans to give it. A shared personal wishlist alone does not offer reservations.
Does reserving a gift buy or pay for it?
No. The reservation tells the group you plan to take care of the gift. You then buy, make or arrange it yourself. Reserving through Giventra does not place an order or make a payment.
What do Reserved and Available mean?
Reserved means someone already plans to give that gift. Available means you can still reserve it. Depending on the quantity set by the organizer, several guests may be able to reserve the same gift. Follow the availability shown.
Can I cancel a gift reservation?
Yes, while the event is open and your reservation offers a release action. Use it so another guest can reserve the gift. If you already bought or prepared it, speak with the organizer first.
Invite guests and track replies
Does a guest need an account?
Sign in to create and manage an event or personal wishlist. Invited guests can reply and reserve gifts using their personal link without an account. Reading a shared personal wishlist does not require an account either.
Does opening a link accept the invitation?
No. Reading an invitation does not change your RSVP. Choose your response explicitly on the invitation page.
Can I invite someone without an email address?
Use the sharing options offered in People. Send each personal link only to its intended guest. Sharing through WhatsApp is an action you initiate, not an automatic group message.
What if an invitation does not arrive?
Check the address with the organizer and look in spam. The organizer can inspect the invitation status or use the personal sharing option. A sent status does not confirm that someone read the message.
Why does my old link no longer work?
The organizer may have renewed or revoked it, or removed the invitation. Ask them for the current invitation. Do not use another guest’s link.
Organize Secret Santa
How do I organize Secret Santa with Giventra?
Choose Secret Santa, add your event details and invite the group. Set up the draw rules offered. Once the group is ready, each giver is assigned a recipient. Each person discovers their own recipient privately.
What happens when I choose Draw my person?
When participant drawing is enabled and the group is ready, the first request creates assignments for the eligible group. Each person then sees only their own recipient. Other drawing methods follow the event’s settings.
Does opening a Secret Santa result draw all the names again?
No. Once assignments exist, each additional participant opens their own result. Viewing a result does not reshuffle the group’s names.
Why is the draw not ready?
The event may need eligible participants, required replies or compatible draw rules. Read the readiness message and ask the organizer to resolve the indicated issue.
Privacy & access
Who can see my invitation and Secret Santa recipient?
Your personal link opens your invitation. In Secret Santa, you see your own recipient privately. Do not share your personal invitation link or your result with others.
Who can see my name on a gift reservation?
The organizer chooses whether reservations are named or anonymous to them. Whether the gift recipient can see reservations is a separate choice. Read the visibility guidance before reserving: anonymous to the organizer does not automatically mean hidden from the gift recipient.
Where can I read about personal data and cookies?
Open Privacy and Cookies & storage in the footer. Documents marked draft are awaiting completion and review; they are not final policies.
After the occasion
Where are my older events?
Open Archive in My events. Events dated more than ten days before today appear there; an event exactly ten days old remains in the current list.
Does archiving delete or complete the event?
No. The archive organizes the list by event date. It does not delete the event, change replies or complete it. Existing access rules still apply.
